Frank – The Journey Begins
Frank Sinatra took being a cultural icon to a new level. He wasn’t the first idol, the Romantic poets of the 18th century lived for that “rock star” status, but he took it to a whole other level with the throngs of screaming girls – referred to as bobbysoxers – that would foreshadow the coming of the Beatles, the Michael Jacksons, and then the Justin Biebers that record executives try to assemble today. Of course, Frank wasn’t assembled by anyone other than himself. I want my brand new, grand Las Vegas show, Frank … A Musical Journey to show you how Frank built himself into the timeless legend we know today.
Backed by symphony or big band, I enter, opening my heart to sing “Without a Song”, followed by the narrator’s voice that weaves my performances and the highlights of Frank’s life together, stating a phrase so often heard when describing heartthrobs today, but seeming to originate with the Chairman of the Board, “Frank was the kind of guy that every man wanted to be like, and every woman wanted to be with.”
That’s completely true about Frank even today with stars such as Justin Timberlake and Robin Thicke adopting his style – a cool, tailored swagger that attracts the ladies. Look at Michael Buble, a fantastic singer, when he receives accolades from the press the headlines read something like, “Buble is today’s Sinatra.” I maintain it’s impossible to be a crooner, or any other type of singer for that matter, and strive for something beyond Sinatra.
This is my introduction to Frank … A Musical Journey. I hope if you haven’t seen it already, you’ll watch the two-minute demo to give you an idea of how big I’ve gone with this show.
